Our increasingly virtual world went into high gear the last two years as organizations struggled to find a way to scale services, build culture, create meaningful connections and bring their communities together in a truly safe and private space. We see nonprofits harnessing the power of virtual peer support communities, membership organizations working to create robust and meaningful member benefits and virtual event experiences, and company leaders working to build culture within an organization where most of the employees have never met in person.

Often software platforms are overly complex to administer and to navigate, which is where On The Dot stands apart. On The Dot helps customers build communities that feel highly personalized and easy to navigate. “We walk alongside our customers to help them architect a community that makes sense for them and helps them scale in a meaningful way,” says Melinda Garvey, founder and CEO of On The Dot.

Be it a business or membership community or a peer-support community in a nonprofit space, On The Dot creates an environment for users to connect on a deeper level. They believe in a very high-touch process when onboarding new customers, as they understand that each community needs to feel highly customized, unique and special. The On The Dot team uses its deep expertise in community building to work alongside their customers to create a community that is engaged and poised to scale.

On The Dot has a robust suite of features to meet the needs of any community or group. The platform allows for a seamless design of both public and private groups based on the needs of the organization and even allows for groups to be broken down into infinite subgroups to allow for very personalized engagement and dissemination of resources and information.
Alongside a messaging tool common in most community platforms, On The Dot has a unique three-way introduction tool through which a person can connect individuals within the platform, creating an easy way to share networks and build deeper connection. The platform contains a mentor-matching tool where users can connect and chat with subject-matter experts, plus a one-on-one integrated instant video feature where users can easily “chat” with other members without the cumbersome barrier of setting up a separate link. The software also has a focus group tool that community members can utilize to deep dive on a specific topic. And because On The Dot understands that most communities host virtual events, they built out a very feature-rich event platform that rivals even the top event platforms. All this, at no extra cost to the customer.

On The Dot onboards customers with a kick-off meeting to do a deep dive into the goals for the community. Then they build an entirely customizable community profile where information can be collected regarding an individual’s skills, interests, passions, etc. Additionally, platform administrators can ask questions that will not be made public, but that may be vital information for an organization to know about their members. The unique way the profile data is designed allows for it to drive suggested connections among members and for members to easily narrow down a search in the “Find My People” tool to get a connection to the exact right individual. And, of course, the data is private and owned by the customer.

Virtual communities are simply part of our future, and On The Dot understands the paramount importance of engagement and belonging in communities and has designed their software to best imitate live, in-person interactions. On The Dot was built with a strong social impact lens in mind. “How can we bring people together to create powerful networks that may help them through a crisis, provide instant access to resources and even help them advance in their careers?” asked Garvey at On The Dot’s inception. The future looks bright for On The Dot.
