"If you think of a roofer or a plumber, there's research involved, but you're not looking for a lifelong relationship," says Daniel Reid, founder and CEO of Steady Stream. Reid built his business around that difference, as a marketing agency for financial advisors, and only financial advisors. Most financial advisor marketing treats each tactic in isolation. Steady Stream connects every touchpoint for financial advisors, insurance advisors and wealth managers.
A prospect who sees an advisor's Facebook ad will then check their Google Business Profile, reviews, website, social media and anything published about the practice. Disconnected marketing can generate visibility without qualified leads.
The agency draws on SEO, paid advertising, social media, email marketing, seminars, webinars and answer engine optimization, selecting services suited to each practice's goals.
Built the Way Advisors Work
Reid modelled the agency on the way advisors serve their own clients. Someone might walk into an advisor's office convinced they need an RRSP or a specific investment. The advisor's job is to explore their goals and recommend what they actually need.
Steady Stream works the same way. Rather than arriving with a preset answer like Google Ads or SEO, the team starts with the outcomes a practice wants and works backward.
The services depend on the advisor's stage of growth and target audience.
Visible in Google and AI Search
Reid sees answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) as the natural evolution of SEO for financial advisors, not a departure from it. The agency prioritizes commercial-intent searches from people actively seeking financial advice. When someone asks Google, ChatGPT or Perplexity for a financial advisor in Toronto, the platform recognizes their location and surfaces local practices. "Not only is it the right person, it's the right time," Reid says.
Proof in Action
A private wealth management practice in Ontario approached Steady Stream to attract new clients. During its initial assessment, the agency identified a key differentiator: the practice's transparency about fees. Steady Stream built lead-generation and seminar marketing campaigns around helping people understand financial advisor fees, investment costs and the figures on their statements. The messaging also challenged the perception that paying financial advisory fees is a disadvantage, noting that the wealthiest people in the world pay for advice because they know good advice is worth it.

The advisors who are easy to find in a few years will be the ones who laid their foundation today.
The campaign filled three seminar sessions within a very modest budget, although the original plan was to fill one. "I've never seen results quite like this," Reid says.
The campaign reached people who already had an advisor but had never had their fees explained. Here was one willing to walk them through it. "Competing on service only gets you so far," Reid says. "Honesty builds trust, and trust is what gets someone to book that meeting."
Ready for What's Next
Looking ahead, Reid's advice to advisors is simple: start now, even if you start small.
Marketing doesn't have to be a substantial spend, but it does take time. Followers, website visitors, leads and search authority all build gradually, and none of them can be switched on overnight. "The advisors who are easy to find in a few years will be the ones who laid their foundation today," he says.
Steady Stream's focus on tailored marketing and client results has earned it recognition as Marketing Agency of the Year in Canada 2026.
