3 Most Common Google Ads Challenges And How To Solve Them
Martech Outlook | Thursday, April 14, 2022
Because Google Ads is such a complex system, it's not surprising that making mistakes on the platform can cost you conversions, money, and impressions.
FREMONT, CA: Because everything is always in flux, Google Ads will keep one on his toes. For example, certain keywords' effectiveness fluctuates, CPCs fluctuate quickly, and platform updates can throw everything out of whack.
Keyword Lists That Are Overstuffed

When creating your first ad, it can be tempting to look for every keyword that might lead to a conversion. Unfortunately, the result is a comprehensive, overly-stuffed keyword list that's a little disjointed.
The best solution is to create small, targeted ad groups with a narrow focus. These people are looking for similar products or services and are likely to have similar search intent. Concentrating on that, I'll have a much better chance of getting clicks and conversions. Consider them as a cohesive unit rather than a throw-spaghetti-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks venture.
Ignoring Non-Keyword Targeting Alternatives
Keywords are, without a doubt, the most important factor in ensuring that one's ad appears in the correct location. Non-keyword targeting options, on the other hand, can still impact one's campaigns and ensure that one is getting the most relevant placements possible.
Ignoring Your Campaigns
This common blunder makes sense. Creating campaigns takes a lot of effort, so it's easy to think "they're either working or they're not" and leave them alone once they're life.
• However, ad campaigns will need to be tweaked from time to time. Here are some common examples:
• Recognizing which search terms are driving the most traffic to the site and adding them to the keyword list
• Changing bids on ad groups that are more or less likely to result in conversions
• Adding new negative keywords if one notices that certain keywords trigger irrelevant searches, as evidenced by no clicks or clicks that result in no conversions.
One is probably putting a lot of time and money into ad campaigns, and one wants to get the best ROI possible. Unfortunately, these three common ad issues will prevent one from doing so, so take a look at current ads (and pay special attention to keyword lists) to ensure that none currently limits the potential.
